Congratulations....
The fact that you have arrived at this webpage is fair indication that you have either, found, discovered or bought an Enigma Geocoin. This webpage is here to help you understand the reason for such a coin and provide you with some useful links to help you crack the code. The Caching Place, have kindly offered to supply prizes to the first eight codebreakers drawn at random, from the successful entries received by 26th January 2008. You can submit your entry and read more about the coin here: http://www.thecachingplace.com/enigma/ Some History....
Possibly the most famous of all cipher machines is the German Enigma. Allied forces were able to read most of the Enigma encrypted messages throughout the war and historians believe that the ability to read these messages and act on that information shortened the conflict by two years, saving many thousands of lives. This coin has been produced as a tribute to British and Alied forces cryptographers who worked at "Station X", Bletchley Park, England. To break the code on the coin, you will need access to either a genuine WWII Enigma machine or an electronic replica. Alternatively simply download a free PC simulator from the internet. Everything else that you need is on the coin. If you have logged your find or discovery, you should now have the Enigma coin icon, shown left, on your GC.com profile. |
